U.S. Representative Massie Selected as Chairman of Technology Subcommittee
“I look forward to working with Chairman Smith and the other committee members to help promote a more competitive technological landscape in America”Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY) was selected to serve as Chairman of the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology’s Subcommittee on Technology. “Technological innovation is vital to our country’s future,” said Rep. Massie. “It has been the driver of economic growth responsible for jobs and higher standards of living here and around the world. I look forward to working with Chairman Smith and the other committee members to help promote a more competitive technological landscape in America.” Before being elected to Congress, Rep. Massie earned two degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, obtained 24 patents, and started a high-tech company. This background makes him uniquely suited to serve as the Chairman of the Technology and Innovation Subcommittee. Regarding Massie’s selection, Science Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-TX) stated: The Subcommittee on Technology has jurisdiction over all matters relating to technology standards, competition, innovation, and policy. Additionally, the subcommittee has general oversight of international technology trade and Department of Transportation research activities. ### |
