Voting Information

Voting is a fundamental right and responsibility. As your representative, I want to make sure every eligible Kentuckian knows how to participate in elections — federal, state, and local. To be eligible to vote in Kentucky, you must be:

  • a U.S. citizen;
  • at least 18 years old on Election Day;
  • a resident of Kentucky;
  • not currently serving a felony sentence (unless rights restored); and
  • not adjudicated mentally incompetent.

How do I check my voter registration status?

Visit the Kentucky Voter Information Center here.

How do I register to vote?

The last day to register to vote in the May 19, 2026 primary election is April 20, 2026. If you do not register to vote by this date, you are ineligible to vote in this election. You can register online here, or by mailing a form to your county clerk’s office.

How do I apply by mail-in ballot?

To be eligible to vote by mail-in absentee ballot in Kentucky, you must have a qualifying excuse, such as being:

  • 65 years of age or older;
  • sick or disabled;
  • a student residing outside the county;
  • a member of the military or an overseas citizen; or
  • temporarily residing outside of Kentucky but still eligible to vote.

You can request a mail-in absentee ballot through the Secretary of State’s online portal here.

When is early voting?

Kentucky offers limited days for early, in-person absentee voting, typically during the week before Election Day. Exact dates and locations can be verified at govote.ky.gov.

What identification is necessary for in-person voting?

If you possess one of the following forms of acceptable photo identification, you must present it when voting in person:

  • Kentucky Driver’s License or State ID;
  • United States Military Identification Card;
  • United States Passport;
  • Student ID from a Kentucky college, university, or technical school; or
  • Other government-issued photo ID.

If you do not possess an acceptable form of photo identification, you may be eligible to sign an affidavit of Reasonable Impediment. More information on voter ID requirements can be found here.
