U.S. Representative Massie Co-sponsors Bill to Protect Conscience Rights “This bill protects churches, religious organizations, and business owners from being forced to violate their beliefs” Congressman Massie has co-sponsored the Health Care Conscience Rights Act. Obamacare would compel individuals to fund abortions and medical procedures in conflict with their faith, but the Health Care Conscience Rights Act would prevent this. “Obamacare is expensive, unconstitutional, and threatens our First Amendment right of conscience,” said Rep. Massie. “This bill protects churches, religious organizations, and business owners from being forced to violate their beliefs.” The bill would also protect healthcare providers who refuse to perform abortions and give recourse to people whose religious convictions conflict with Obamacare. Congresswoman Diane Black (R-TN) introduced the Health Care Conscience Rights Act (H.R. 940), which now has 128 co-sponsors. |
