Friends,

I invite you to read this newsletter to learn about several issues I am working on for Kentuckians. If you're short on time, here's a top line summary of some of my activities in March:

  • Appeared on Fox News to discuss my legislation requiring candidates for federal office to disclose whether they hold dual citizenship.
  • Announced U.S. Service Academy Day will be held on April 26 in Hebron.
  • Passed my "NICS Data Reporting Act" out of the House Judiciary Committee.
  • Exposed the Uniparty's Continuing Resolution battle in the House as a "Fake Fight."
  • Spoke in the Judiciary Committee about my National Constitutional Carry bill, which would allow law-abiding citizens to carry a firearm nationwide.
  • Worked with Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) to introduce "End the Fed" legislation in both the House and Senate.
  • Invited 4th District high school students to participate in the Congressional Art Competition.
  • X Post of the Month: Set Your Debt Clocks Ahead.

Here are the in-depth articles:

Rep. Massie Appears on Fox News to Discuss the

"Dual Loyalty Disclosure Act"

In March, I appeared on FOX News to discuss my bill, the "Dual Loyalty Disclosure Act." Candidates for federal office should be required to disclose to voters whether they have citizenship in other countries.

Also, thank you, Director of National Intelligence Gabbard, for revoking the security clearances of individuals no longer in office.

U.S. Service Academy Day to be Held on April 26 in Hebron

I'll be hosting our annual Academy Day event on Saturday, April 26th at the Marriott Cincinnati Airport in Hebron, KY. On Academy Day interested students of all ages and their parents have the chance to meet with Service Academy representatives to learn more about the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy, the Merchant Marine Academy, and the Coast Guard Academy, known collectively as the U.S. Service Academies. More information about the program, including answers to "Frequently Asked Questions," can be found at this link.

By attending a U.S. Service Academy, young men and women have the opportunity to serve their country while improving all facets of their character through a rigorous scholastic curriculum and a disciplined moral and physical regimen. Competition for admission to a Service Academy is high, and nominees are chosen based on several factors including character, leadership, academic excellence, physical aptitude, and extracurricular activities.

Any high school student who is interested in learning more about attending a U.S. Service Academy is encouraged to attend Academy Day and should RSVP at this link.

Rep. Massie's "NICS Data Reporting Act" Passes the

House Judiciary Committee

The Judiciary Committee passed my bill requiring the FBI to provide demographic data of persons ruled ineligible to purchase a firearm by NICS (the Background Check System).

This data will show that thousands of false denials per year disproportionately affect racial minorities.

Rep. Thomas Massie: The Continuing Resolution Vote

was a "Fake Fight" in the House

play button

The low down on the Continuing Resolution (CR) is that it was a fake fight in the House of Representatives. This was made obvious when the CR passed 62-38 in the Senate.

As I predicted, Senate Democrats carried the CR across the finish line because it’s basically a continuation of the Schumer-Biden-Johnson 2024 omnibus.

Ten Senate Democrats voted yes, and one Senate Republican voted no (Rand Paul)!

Rep. Massie Urges Judiciary Committee to Pass

National Constitutional Carry

play button

This month, the Judiciary Committee passed HR 38, National Reciprocity. I support this bill, but there is a better option, and it is National Constitutional Carry.

29 states already have Constitutional (i.e. Permitless) Carry. Why not extend it to all 50 states?

Under HR 38 (Reciprocity), a resident of one of the Constitutional Carry states can carry in any state that allows their citizens to obtain a permit. The recent “Bruen” Supreme Court decision requires all states that aren’t Constitutional Carry to issue carry permits to their citizens.

This means that when HR 38 passes, any resident of those 29 Constitutional Carry states will be able to carry in any of the 50 states without a permit. Ironically, however, residents of the 21 states (like New York or California) that aren’t Constitutional Carry will need a permit to carry in their own state, while visitors from states that are Constitutional Carry (like Kentucky or Ohio) won’t need a permit to carry in states like New York or California.

If Congress, relying on the Second Amendment, can force California to allow “Permitless” Carry for Kentuckians who visit California, why would we not force California to allow “Permitless” Carry for Californians who are in California? In other words, why not pass National Constitutional Carry and afford everyone in the United States the right to “bear arms” which is enshrined in the Constitution?

The other quirk of HR 38 is that (I believe) it would allow a person from Kentucky to carry an AR-15 pistol with a 20-round magazine in California, while Californians would not be allowed to carry, or even own, the same equipment. The Supreme Court decision in “D.C. v. Heller,” whether you agree with it or not, allows states to have some regulations on firearm equipment and eligibility to possess, but HR 38 seems to contradict that framework.

Contrast this with my National Constitutional Carry bill which basically says if a state allows people to possess (KEEP) a particular firearm, that state must also allow people to carry (BEAR) that firearm.

I introduced my National Constitutional Carry bill in committee as a substitute amendment to HR 38, National Reciprocity. After introducing the amendment for the record and describing it, I withdrew the amendment instead of putting my Judiciary Committee colleagues in the position of deciding whether to replace National Reciprocity with National Constitutional Carry. The dilemma is that not enough Republicans in the whole House understand the difference, and the prevailing opinion is that Reciprocity can pass the whole House, but Constitutional Carry cannot.

Perhaps when more of my colleagues who are not on the Judiciary Committee understand why we should pass National Constitutional Carry instead of (or in addition to) National Reciprocity, we can make a strong push to report National Constitutional Carry out of the Judiciary Committee for a vote in the full House of Representatives. In the meantime, I’m glad HR 38 is going to the House floor for a vote.

Rep. Massie, Sen. Mike Lee Reintroduce Legislation to

"End the Fed"

In March, Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) and I reintroduced the Federal Reserve Board Abolition Act to "End the Fed." The legislation abolishes the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve and the Federal Reserve banks. It also repeals the Federal Reserve Act, the 1913 law that created the Federal Reserve System.

Americans have suffered under crippling inflation, and the Federal Reserve is to blame. During COVID, the Federal Reserve created trillions of dollars out of thin air and loaned it to the Treasury Department to enable unprecedented deficit spending. By monetizing the debt, the Federal Reserve devalued the dollar and enabled free money policies that caused high inflation.

Monetizing debt is a closely coordinated effort between the Federal Reserve, Treasury Department, Congress, Big Banks, and Wall Street. Through this process, retirees see their savings evaporate due to the actions of a central bank pursuing inflationary policies that benefit the wealthy and connected. If we really want to reduce inflation, the most effective policy is to end the Federal Reserve.
