Friend,
I would like to update you on issues that we have discussed in Congress in July.
Recently, on "America's Newsroom," Bill Hemmer asked if I was going to back down and wear a mask after Speaker Pelosi reinstituted a mask mandate in the House. My response was an emphatic "Hell, no!" We also discussed the lawsuit Representative Norman, Representative Greene, and I have filed against Speaker Pelosi's tyrannical mandates. You may view the entire interview at the link below.
In July, Dana Loesch hosted me on The First TV to discuss HR 3860, the bill I introduced that would prohibit any requirement that a member of the Armed Forces receives a COVID-19 vaccine. My message to Dana is that individuals should consult their doctors instead of taking health advice from politicians and bureaucrats. You are invited to watch the video of my appearance, included below.
HR 3860 has been recognized as FreedomWorks' "Bill of the Month" for July. It is an honor to receive this recognition. No one should be forced or coerced by anyone else into taking the novel COVID-19 vaccine. You can read the full statement from FreedomWorks at the link included below.
Also this month, I hosted a meeting of the Second Amendment Caucus along with my co-chair, Congresswoman Lauren Boebert. We were honored to have American legend Dick Heller speak at the event. Mr. Heller is best known for his role in the landmark Supreme Court case, District of Columbia v. Heller, in which the court ruled that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms.
Earlier this month, I spoke in a Judiciary Committee hearing requesting that the General Accountability Office (GAO) investigate the racial disparity created by the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), a system that appears to produce false denials for Black males by a factor of 3-1 compared to White males. A video of my comments is included below.
Finally, Congressman Chip Roy and I submitted a joint letter to Attorney General Garland demanding that the Department of Justice (DOJ) answer our questions regarding the alleged mistreatment of January 6 defendants. We are concerned about the DOJ's apparent failure to distinguish between those who engage in protected speech and those who commit acts of violence. The full text of our letter is included below.
