U.S. Congressman Thomas Massie

May 29, 2019

Friend,

In case you missed it, I recently spoke at the Amazon Prime Air Hub ground-breaking event at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG), one of the fastest-growing cargo airports in the country.

FAA Associate Administrator for Airports Kirk Shaffer, Director of Amazon Air Sarah Rhoads, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, CVG CEO Candace McGraw, and Vice President of Amazon Transportation Services David Bozeman, and Congressman Thomas Massie meet to discuss how the new Amazon Air hub can improve the economy in Kentucky's 4th District.

CVG is growing in many different dimensions. In the last five years, airport ticket prices have dropped while cargo freight and passenger departure rates have doubled in volume.

Logistics and transportation are vital to our nation and especially to Kentucky's 4th District. As a member on the Aviation Subcommittee of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I am excited about this significant investment in Northern Kentucky.

CVG currently has enough room for 15 Amazon aircraft at one time. Once Amazon completes construction in 2021, the area will be large enough to fit 100 planes. The hub is projected to create more than 2,000 jobs! This addition will also help Amazon Prime orders go from two-day to one-day delivery times. I look forward to the facility’s grand opening in the years ahead.

It was my honor to introduce Kirk Schaffer, Associate Administrator for Airports with the Federal Aviation Administration at this event. Many thanks to Governor Matt Bevin, CVG CEO Candace McGraw, and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos for attending this ground-breaking event as well!
