Dear friend,

Below are upcoming events for students in Kentucky's fourth district. Please feel free to forward this email to anyone that might be interested!

2016 Congressional Art Competition

Hannah Jackson's piece, titled “Down in the Creek,” was the fourth district of Kentucky’s 2015 Congressional Art Competition winner! Hannah attends Mason County High School. Click here to view the other 2015 submissions.

I invite students from the fourth congressional district to participate in the 2016 Congressional Art Competition!

Each spring, Members of the U.S. House of Representatives sponsor The Artistic Discovery Contest, a nationwide high school arts competition, to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our congressional district. The Artistic Discovery Contest is open to all high school students in the fourth district.

A panel of independent judges will select the overall winner of our district's competition. The winning artist will earn two round-trip tickets to Washington D.C. for the unveiling of their work, which will be on display for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will also include artwork from other contest winners nationwide.

Interested students must submit their entries between now and 4:00 p.m. on April 11, 2016. For more information, click here

2016 United States Service Academy Day

As your United States representative, I have the privilege of nominating a limited number of qualifying candidates to attend one of the U.S. Service Academies. The honor of attending a Service Academy comes with an obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation.

My Fourth Annual U.S. Service Academy Day is on Saturday, April 16, 2016. While it is not necessary to attend in order to apply for a nomination, I encourage students to attend so they can learn more about the nomination process. Representatives from each Service Academy will be in attendance to answer questions and provide information. The nomination process also includes an additional day in the fall when applicants have formal interviews with representatives from the academies.

If you would like to attend my Fourth Annual U.S. Service Academy Day, please RSVP here.
