Dear Friends,

Today we honor our veterans. Yesterday Congressman Evan Jenkins (R-WV) and I were honored to participate in the Huntington VA Medical Center's Veterans Day event in Huntington, West Virginia, to recognize these brave men and women whose courage and sacrifice continue to ensure freedom for all Americans.

I was humbled to award the Bronze Star to Mr. Forest Wireman, a U.S. Army World War II Veteran from Ashland, Kentucky. He was among the first soldiers in the 79th Division to land on Utah Beach in Normandy and fought in the 248-day campaign to liberate Europe from the Nazis.

Congressman Thomas Massie and Congressman Evan Jenkins (R-WV) with World War II Veteran Forest Wireman and his great-grandchildren. Congressman Massie presented Mr. Wireman with the Bronze Star Medal. For more information on the ceremony, click here. For more pictures from the ceremony, click here.

The Bronze Star Medal is awarded to members of the military for heroic or meritorious achievement or service in combat. Mr. Forest Wireman’s great grandchildren were with him to receive the award.

To Mr. Forest Wireman and the other brave men and women who have served our country, thank you. We are forever grateful.

In Liberty,
Congressman Thomas Massie
