**ADVISORY**

U.S. Rep Massie to host House Transportation Committee Chairman Bill Shuster in Northern Kentucky

WASHINGTON - On October 17, Congressman Massie will host the Chairman of the United States House of Representatives Transportation & Infrastructure Committee.

"October 17th will be an historic day for the Commonwealth.  Representative Bill Shuster, Chairman of the Transportation Committee, has generously agreed to travel to Kentucky to attend our first Transportation Advisory Board meeting.”

Chairman Shuster will participate in a public forum and attend the kick-off meeting of the Transportation Advisory Board.  The Advisory Board was founded by Rep. Massie for the purpose of bringing attention to regional transportation and infrastructure issues.  Its members include leaders of local transportation authorities and businesses.

“My goal is to leverage the members’ unique knowledge of Kentucky's transportation challenges along with my position on the congressional Transportation Committee to ensure that Kentucky's federal transportation needs are addressed for as long as I have the privilege to serve the Commonwealth in Washington, DC."

Rep. Massie has been working with Chairman Shuster in Washington to bring attention to Kentucky’s transportation issues.  A substantial percentage of US commerce passes through Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati, and the area’s infrastructure is critical to local and national economies.  With the CVG airport, two major railroads, three interstates, and 276 miles along the Ohio river, Kentucky’s 4th district is vitally important to the nation’s transportation infrastructure.

“I am delighted to be working with Chairman Shuster and look forward to having him here,” said Rep. Massie.

It is expected that the Water Resources Reform and Development Act, the Brent Spence Bridge, the Federal Highway Trust Fund, the gas tax, and other transportation and infrastructure issues will be discussed during the program, which follows.
