Jefferson County

Rep. Massie Visits UPS Worldport

UPS Worldport is the 5.2 million square foot heart of UPS's global air network. It is the largest fully automated package handling facility in the world. The operation currently turns over 130 aircraft daily, processing an average of 1.6 million packages a day. UPS employs around 10,000 people in Kentucky.

Boone County

Duke Energy

Duke Energy is the largest electric power holding company in the United States, supplying and delivering energy to 7.2 million U.S. customers.

Duke Energy’s Kentuckyoperation provides approximately 1,000 megawatts of owned electric capacity to around 140,000 customers.

The company also provides natural gas service to 100,000 customers in Northern Kentucky.

In a recent Science, Space, and Technology Committee hearing, Congressman Massie discussed the 'Future of Coal.' Check out a clip of his line of questioning HERE.

L'Oreal Facility

On May 2nd, Congressman Massie toured the L'Oreal facility in Florence. The manufacturing plant employs over 200 full-time workers and produces 165 million units of Garnier Fructis, L'Oreal Paris, and various other shampoos, conditioners and styling products. The plant is undergoing an expansion that will add 110,000 sq. ft. and 200 new jobs to the 560,000 sq. ft. plant.

MAG Industries

MAG designs and manufactures large, precision tools for machining metal components and also for the automated production of lightweight, high-strength composite materials. They primarily serve the aerospace market.

MAG has been in the area since 2005, and employs approximately 400 highly-skilled workers around Hebron.

Amazon Fulfillment Center

Congressman Massie visited the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Hebron to learn more about the company's innovative delivery operations.

DRS Technologies

Congressman Massie visited DRS Technology’s Environmental Systems plant in Florence.

DRS Technologies focuses on defense technology, and is a leading supplier of integrated products, services and support to military forces and defense contractors worldwide.

Congressman Massie visited Keebler's Florence facility on May 13th. The facility produces favorites such as Keebler and Famous Amos cookies.

Visit to bioLOGIC Life Sciences Business Accelerator

On May 29, Congressman Massie visited the bioLOGIC life sciences business accelerator in Covington and the Bexion Pharmaceutical Company within in it.

Campbell County

Wood Hudson Cancer Research Laboratory

The Wood Hudson Cancer lab in Newport is the only not-for-profit independent cancer research institution in Kentucky. This world class research facility has over 1.8 million tissue specimens, obtained from surgeries at two local hospitals. 

Their Undergraduate Research Education Program has helped train over 240 students who have gone on to become physicians, scientists and professors. Most of them remain in Kentucky.

During the visit we discussed federal funding for research, entitlement programs, and the upcoming continuing resolution. 

Entitlement programs monopolize about two-thirds of federal government funds and squeeze discretionary funds for endeavors such as cancer research.

Bracken County

Meldahl Lock & Dam

On September 3rd Congressman Massie visited the Meldahl Lock & Dam in Foster. 

The Meldahl Hydro project is expected to generate 558,000 MWh annually. The transmission line will interconnect with Duke Energy’s Zimmer/Spurlock line.

As the only member of the Kentucky delegation on the House Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure, Rep. Massie was eager to hear the Corps of Engineers' thoughts on the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA). His subcommittee on Water Resources has been working on this legislation for awhile. 

WRRDA authorizes the Army Corps of Engineers to study and construct water infrastructure projects.

Gallatin County

Gallatin Steel

Congressman Massie visited Gallatin Steel’s state of the art manufacturing facility along the Ohio River. 

Gallatin Steel began steel production in 1995. The Compact Strip Production facility produces 1.4 million tons of hot band coils annually. The coils are used for several end products such as bridges, guardrails, garbage trucks, and more. 

Gallatin Steel employs more than 400 workers, and has been noted for its leadership in health, safety, and community involvement.


Boyd County

Marathon Petroleum Corp. Catlettsburg Refinery

Catlettsburg is home to one of Marathon Petroleum Company's seven refineries.

Located on the western bank of the Big Sandy River, the Catlettsburg site has a refining capacity of 233,000 barrels per calendar day. 

The refinery’s products include gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, asphalt, propane, propylene, heavy fuel oil, cumene, toluene, butane and sulfur. Eight hundred employees and seven hundred contractors work at this location. 

Catlettsburg is also the base of MPC’s marine operations, which include 14 inland waterway towboats, 168 owned barges and eight leased barges.

Mason County

Crounse Corp.


U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie spent Thursday, May 30, in Maysville. He traveled the Ohio River on a Crounse Corporation towboat, en route to a tour of the East Kentucky Power Cooperative Spurlock Station.

Rep. Massie took the opportunity to drive the barge - under a bridge - and did so without crashing.

The visit focused on the Ohio River's role as a transportation artery and water resource.

East Kentucky Power Cooperative's Spurlock Station

Following the nine-mile ride down the Ohio River with Crounse Corp., Congressman Massie disembarked the MV Linda Reed to tour Spurlock Station. While there, he met with EKPC and Fleming-Mason Energy executives.

Spurlock Station is one of the cleanest burning coal plants in the world employs hundreds of men and women from the region. It provides over 1,200 Megawatts of capacity and demonstrates the importance of coal to our economy.

Congressman Massie visited Adam Hinton and his mother, proprietors of Hinton Mills Farm supply stores, during customer appreciation day.



Carrol County

North American Stainless

North American Stainless in Carroll County. NAS is the largest, fully integrated stainless steel producer in the U.S.

The state-of-the-art production facility rests on 1400 acres of land adjacent to the Ohio River.

North American Stainless employs about 1,300 workers from Kentucky's 4th District.

Congressman Massie visited the Carroll County hospital and was briefed by staff on the health issues facing the hospital.

Lewis County

Tram Construction

Tram Construction, which specializes in track inspection, construction, rehabilitation, as well as construction materials, employs 26 workers in the northeastern Kentucky area.

The Congressman joined Tram Construction executives for a a briefing and tour of the rail yard.

Scott County

Kentucky Toyota Plant Expansion

Toyota's decision to manufacture its new high end Lexus line in Georgetown shows the company's confidence in the quality of Kentucky workers.

Congressman Massie greatly appreciates this confidence and the substantial additional investment Toyota will be making in the Kentucky economy.

The Toyota facility in Northern Kentucky already employs 6,600, and the Lexus expansion will bring 750 more jobs to the area, which includes the 4th District.
