U.S. Representative Massie Signs on to Sugar Reform Act
“The sugar reform act will save jobs, make American companies more competitive globally, and lower costs for consumers”
WASHINGTON – Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY) has signed on as an original co-sponsor of the Sugar Reform Act. This legislation rolls back burdensome sugar program provisions from the 2008 Farm Bill.

“American families pay the price for these unnecessary and misguided sugar quotas,” said Rep. Massie. “The sugar reform act will save jobs, make American companies more competitive globally, and lower costs for consumers.”

The sugar program provisions have contributed to a United States sugar price that is nearly double the world price. According to the Coalition for Sugar Reform, American consumers and businesses incur an estimated cost of $3.5 billion and 20,000 jobs annually.

Rep. Joe Pitts (R-PA) introduced the Sugar Reform Act of 2013 with 36 co-sponsors.
